8,000 Watch Hours and 10 Million Shorts Views: What YouTube's New Rules Actually Mean

YouTube just made the first significant change to the Partner Program since 2018, and most of the internet is panicking about the wrong part of it. In this solo episode I walk through the official blog post line by line — the 8,000 qualified watch hours or 20 million Shorts views it now takes to get in, the 10 million qualified Shorts views every 90 days you need to keep earning on Shorts, and the change almost nobody is talking about: hitting the long-form requirements no longer unlocks Shorts monetization.

I pull up my own numbers to show what this actually costs most of us, and make the case that 8,000 hours is far more reachable than your feed is telling you. If you were close to the old bar, this one is meant to encourage you, not scare you.
