Birthdays, Babies, and the One Thing That Actually Moves the Needle
Birthdays, Babies, and the One Thing That Actually Moves the Needle
February 21, 2025
Happy Friday!
If your house is anything like mine right now, you know what "busy season" feels like.
This week, our triplets (Mollie, Ty, and Brandon) turned two months old. We're still very much in the trenches of newborn life times three. Our family went from a party of four to a party of seven, and honestly, some days it still feels like we're just trying to survive until the next feeding.
And then tomorrow, our middle child Millie turns 7. She's the sweetest, most determined kid and she's been counting down to this birthday for about three months straight.
If you want to see what life with five kids actually looks like day-to-day, we've been documenting it over on TikTok. Follow along with The Porter Bunch here. It's been a fun project, and honestly, I've already learned a ton about short-form content from it (and made over $1,000, not bad for a side experiment).
What I've Been Working On
In the middle of all the birthday chaos, I've been putting a lot of energy into my new podcast, Basically AI.
If you're even a little curious about AI but don't want to wade through hype and jargon, this is the show. Each episode I break down the latest AI tools, news, and stories that I'm personally interested in. No fluff, just the stuff that actually matters for creators and entrepreneurs.

I'd love for you to check it out and let me know what you think.
This Week's Lesson: Know Your One Thing
When life gets this full (birthdays, diapers, school drop-offs, content to create, a business to run) you can't do everything. And if you try, you'll do all of it poorly.
What I keep coming back to in seasons like this is one question: What is the ONE thing I can do this week that actually moves the needle?
Not ten things. Not a perfect schedule. One thing.
Maybe it's publishing that episode. Maybe it's sending that email. Maybe it's having the conversation you've been putting off. Whatever it is, identify it, protect the time for it, and let the rest be good enough.
Busy seasons don't last forever. But the habit of knowing where your limited time goes? That lasts.
Have a great weekend.
